For over seventy years, Vergani has been the name synonymous with authentic Milanese panettone. At the heart of Panettone Vergani is a family legacy that spans four generations, keeping Milan’s holiday traditions alive. From its humble beginnings in an artisan workshop to its current role as Milan’s last remaining industrial-scale panettone producer, Vergani remains a symbol of excellence.
The journey began in 1944, in a small pastry shop on Viale Monza, when Angelo Vergani, a young and passionate Milanese pastry chef, opened his own business. These were challenging post-war years, with Milan still bearing the scars of bombings, but Angelo’s determination and love for his craft prevailed. Using only genuine ingredients and an unwavering dedication to quality, “al Vergani” quickly gained popularity, becoming renowned for its authentic Milanese panettone.
Today, the main Vergani bakery—just a short walk from the original pastry shop—produces 600,000 panettoni annually. Yet each one is crafted with the same artisanal care and original recipe that great-grandfather Angelo created. The secret to an exceptional panettone? It all lies in the ingredients, the tradition, and the passion passed down through the generations.
