Reopening of Lupaia, the Iconic Boutique Hotel in Val d’Orcia

On March 15th, Lupaia, a hidden gem in the beautiful Tuscan hills, will reopen to visitors with an even more exciting and unforgettable experience.

Perched precariously between two of Tuscany’s most picturesque valleys—Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia—the latter of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site—Lupia remains a premier location for individuals in search of genuine, ageless luxury and relaxation.

Lupaia, a company now associated with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, was born in 2016 as a dream come true for Austrians Heidi and Christopher Mueller, who both have experience in international marketing.

If you are looking for a destination that combines the comforts of a five-star hotel with the warmth of a friend’s house—that is what you will discover at Lupaia—then you have found it, according to Heidi and Christopher Mueller.

The 12 rooms and suites at Lupaia, each with its unique history and a warm welcome, make it an ideal retreat for anyone seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and a chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Tuscan countryside.

Inside Lupaia, visitors can delve into a range of activities, such as sampling wines in the Wine Room or following the lead of alimurgia specialists while they forage in the Wild Herb Garden.

The four-course tasting menu at Lupaia, prepared by Chef Andrea Sisti, changes daily and is paired with an assortment of premium wines. Starting this year, the themed cooking classes—which include vegetarian and gluten-free options—will take place in the brand new Kitchen Lab, which was meticulously created to provide an unforgettable experience. With a maximum capacity of six students, this fully-equipped workshop provides an intimate setting for cooking sessions where each student receives individual attention in a pleasant and supportive setting.

“Our goal at the Kitchen Lab is to provide our guests with the opportunity to try their hand at real Tuscan cuisine,” remarks Fabio Datteroni, General Manager of Lupaia. “Our cooking lessons will provide a chance to learn authentic Tuscan cuisine while also fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and enjoyment.”

Using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients sourced from Lupaia’s organic garden and other local shops, participants will get their hands dirty while learning the ins and outs of making traditional Tuscan dishes and finding the ideal wine to complement them.

The boutique hotel provides more than just delicious food; they also provide a great selection of outdoor activities, such as yoga classes and guided e-bike tours where an experienced rider will show you the best routes.

Lupaia is notable not only for its dedication to sustainability but also for its support of local artisans and food producers.

The reopening of Lupaia is an invitation to all those who love travel to come and experience the real Tuscany, a place of passion, authenticity, and beauty.
