History and a spectacular view from Duomo Milan

Visit the cathedral and rooftop.
(Yes, it’s touristy but well worth it!)

The Duomo Milan is the third largest cathedral in the world after St. Peter’s in Rome and the Cathedral of Seville. Taking over over 500 years to complete, today the Duomo of Milano is constantly being repaired and maintained. For a spectacular view of the city and even of the Alps (on a clear day), you can climb to the top of the Duomo with a spiral stone staircase of 919 steps. An elevator to the top is also available.

The entrance to the rooftop stairs and the elevator are on Corso Vittorio Emanuele (the left side of the Duomo if you are looking at it straight on).

Open 9:00 AM – 5:45 PM

Prices range from €5 to visit the cathedral to €20 for a full access pass to visit the cathedral, museum and rooftop.

Address:Piazza Duomo, 1

How to get there: Metro, red line, get off at Duomo. You can buy tickets at the museum (located on the right) but expect long lines. Book tickets for Duomo Milano in advance.
